Effective July 1, 2012, IST will discontinue the AT&T Calling Card Program. All active calling cards will be deactivated at that time. Currently, there are approximately 500 active calling cards in the hands of campus customers.
The calling-card program has been offered to the Berkeley campus for more than twenty years, however usage of this service has steadily declined with the increasing prevalence of cellular phones. A recent review of the calling-card activity logs revealed that there has been no calling-card activity since September 2009. This, and the fact that as of May 2011, AT&T instituted a $260 monthly calling card program fee, are the primary reasons IST is discontinuing the calling-card program.
