As part of our ongoing efforts to save our environment and underscore our fiscal responsibilities, IST has decided to go green with the campus directory. We will now only maintain an online directory and will no longer produce a printed directory.
Among the benefits of going green is that updated directory information will be available instantaneously. Changes to the online directory is done in real time, so the problem of having obsolete entries, which occurred frequently in the printed directory, will no longer be an issue. Individuals changing departments and jobs can update their directory information and the system will make their changes live immediately.
We are currently working to give departments the authority to
- make department-level changes themselves so they can make directory updates such as address and telephone number changes, and
- remove names of staff who should no longer be in the directory such as those who have retired, resigned, or deceased.
We will inform the campus when we have a process in place. In the meantime, please continue to send your departmental changes to
We are also working with the UC police department to distribute to everyone for safekeeping this year, a booklet version of the safety information previously found in the printed directory.
There are still a few of the 2007–08 printed campus directories available if you did not get a copy. If you need a copy sent to you, please email us at with your name, address, and mail code and we will be sure get you a one.
Updating individual listings in the online directory
To update your individual listing in the campus online directory, log in to the CalNet Directory Update page with your CalNet ID.
- After logging in, select the "Edit Address Information" button.
- When you get to the next screen, labeled "Address Information "for your name", look for the "Edit Default Primary Work Address" link, located below the shaded area in the table, and select that. Do not select the "Add New Address" button.
- This will take you to a screen labeled "Update for Address: Default Primary Work Address". This is where you would change your title, department name, campus address, etc. Be sure to select the "Update" button when you have finished making your changes so the system will save your edits.
To review your current information in the database, go to the CalNet Directory People Lookup page and do a search on your name.
