The CalNet team announces the newly established CalNet Terms of Service. These terms relate to:
- the CalNet test environment
- login and logout standards for applications that use the Central Authentication Service (CAS)
- a prohibition against proxied CalNet Authentication without an approved exception.
The new terms of service are included on the Identity Management section of the IST Service Catalog, and are described in detail on the CalNet wiki, https://wikihub.berkeley.edu/display/calnet/CalNet+Terms+of+ Service.
Based on feedback from the CalNet Tech Team, the CalNet team is asking that campus departments comply with these terms of service by June 30, 2010.
Background
These terms of service were developed largely at the request of campus developers and with their input. The CAS Terms of Service and CalNet Proxied Authentication exception request process were reviewed and approved by the Campus Information Security and Privacy Committee (CISPC).

The CalNet Terms of Service contains a lot of information, and to help campus developers digest it, the CalNet team will send follow-up messages to the Calnet-developers mailing list to provide a bit more background for each of these terms of service. These additional messages will be posted on the CalNet wiki as they are sent.
