Effective November 1, 2009, the rate for hourly consulting and support services provided by IST–Departmental On-site Computing Services (DOCS) increased from $80 to $82. This change will be reflected on the December 2009 billing statement. The monthly subscription rate for desktop support remains at $70.

Service description
The DOCS team provides desktop and server support to academic, administrative, and research departments.
Hourly service
The hourly service is intended for customers needing one-time repairs, installations, or troubleshooting. The hourly service is an ideal way to provide vacation coverage for departments lacking an abundance of IT staff.
Monthly subscription
The monthly subscription service is intended for day-to-day support of desktops, laptops, or servers. It is available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Departments subscribed to this service are assigned a primary support person. Other benefits of this service include:
- Setup and installation of new machines.
- Installation, configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting of Mac and Windows operating systems, as well as campus-supported applications (e.g., Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Installation and configuration of security software including antivirus protection, operating system updates, and software application patches.
- Support for data backups and restores.
- Support for smartphones such as iPhone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and Palm devices.
