Based on lower demand, combined with reductions in resources, The Scholar's Workstation (TSW) is reducing services provided by the Technology Store for Departments. The following changes are effective September 18, 2009.

  • TSW staff will no longer deliver products to departments.
    • TSW will continue to process Apple and Dell orders that are normally shipped directly from the manufacturer to the customer via carrier (i.e., UPS, etc.). Both Apple and Dell offer a variety of other brands of peripheral accessories, such as printers, drives, storage, and carrying cases. Customers are encouraged to browse and add these items to the quotes submitted to TSW so these products can also be shipped directly to departments via carrier.

    • Customers may continue to order items from the TSW web store and choose "pick up" as an option. The standard estimated turnaround for orders is approximately one to two weeks. TSW will contact customers when items are available for pickup.

Items to be picked up will be kept at the Demonstration Center in the Technology Store, 156 Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union — lower Sproul entrance to the Cal Student Stores near book buybacks.

  • Store and Demonstration Center hours will change. The new hours for the Store and Demonstration Center will be 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Customers may schedule appointments outside of these hours by sending email to
  • Inventory levels will be reduced. Inventory levels for walk-in purchases are being reduced. Customers are encouraged to call 642-8424 to check for product availability before going to the Technology Store.
