Two town hall meetings to discuss the migration of the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) from the UC Berkeley mainframe to that of UC Office of the President (UCOP) have been scheduled for the month of April. Sign up for these meetings via the Blu portal. April 8, 2009.
On May 9, 2009, the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) is tentatively scheduled to move from the Berkeley campus mainframe to that of the UC Office of the President (UCOP). Moving the system from the campus mainframe to UCOP's mainframe will result in improved efficiencies and cost savings. March 26, 2009.
The project to upgrade the Campuswide Alumni/Development System (CADS), the database application that is central to UC Berkeley's fundraising enterprise, has expanded to include enhanced business reporting tools, and planning for the implementation of a new data warehouse. The expansion of the project addresses the need for a robust, centralized data system that can fully support Berkeley's currently unfolding $3 billion fundraising campaign. The evolution of CADS will be so profound that even the name is being changed, from Campuswide Alumni/Development System to Cal Advancement Data System. September 16, 2008.

Working toward the goal of becoming a true enterprise data warehouse, with broad and integrated sets of consistent, reliable, easily accessible, and secure data, the data warehouse is upgrading the Hyperion Business Intelligence toolset, redesigning the core data dimensions, and incorporating more key operational data sets. In January, CALmessages, the campus's official web broadcast system, underwent a major upgrade. It is now easier for authorized users to send email notifications and campuswide announcements to all campus community members and to target specific emails to specific audiences. February 19, 2008.
In 2006, University Relations launched an initiative to select and deploy an application to replace CADS, the central database for the campus fundraising community. In spring 2007, a competitive vendor evaluation process was completed and, in December 2007, the evaluation team awarded a contract to SunGard Higher Education for its Advance application. Bringing in Advance provides an off-the-shelf solution to many of CADS's current challenges, while its custom-configuration ability permits fine-tuning to precisely serve a wide range of campus fundraising functions. This project is a campuswide Procure-to-Pay initiative sponsored and funded by Administration, which will significantly improve purchasing-to-payment transactional operations. A campuswide release of the new system is scheduled for fall 2008 February 11, 2008.
HRMS currently is running on the 8.3 version of the PeopleSoft Enterprise software. It is being upgraded to the 9.0 version in order to take advantage of new features and software improvements, and to comply with the campus security standards. The upgrade is scheduled to begin Friday, October 31, 2008. January 29, 2008.
