<title>Supporting campuswide fundraising with information technology</title>
 <link>http://inews.berkeley.edu/articles/Fall2008/advancement-enterprise</link>
<description>The project to upgrade the Campuswide Alumni/Development System (CADS), the database application that is central to UC Berkeley&#039;s fundraising enterprise, has expanded to include enhanced business reporting tools, and planning for the implementation of a new data warehouse. The expansion of the project addresses the need for a robust, centralized data system that can fully support Berkeley&#039;s currently unfolding $3 billion fundraising campaign. The evolution of CADS will be so profound that even the name is being changed, from Campuswide Alumni/Development System to Cal Advancement Data System.

<title>Update on migrating the Campuswide Alumni/Development System (CADS) to a new application</title>
 <link>http://inews.berkeley.edu/articles/Spring2008/1060.html</link>
<description>In 2006, University Relations launched an initiative to select and deploy an application to replace CADS, the central database for the campus fundraising community. In spring 2007, a competitive vendor evaluation process was completed and, in December 2007, the evaluation team awarded a contract to SunGard Higher Education for its Advance application. Bringing in Advance provides an off-the-shelf solution to many of CADS&#039;s current challenges, while its custom-configuration ability permits fine-tuning to precisely serve a wide range of campus fundraising functions.
