Computing Operations and Information Services (COIS) to merge with IST

As part of the campus effort to operate more efficiently, Business and Technology's Computing Operations and Information Services (COIS) unit will merge with IST effective September 1, 2009. COIS' variety of services will be an excellent complement to current IST offerings. August 31, 2009.

Start of semester student systems freeze

The start of the semester is a peak period that corresponds to increased load on our infrastructure combined with high levels of anxiety for incoming students. To minimize the potential for disruption during this time, IST is implementing a two-week freeze on changes impacting student systems. The freeze will be in effect from 7:00 am, Friday, August 14, 2009, through 5:00 pm, Friday, August 28, 2009. August 14, 2009.

TAM Presents: IST storage services, August 17, 2009

The IST Storage team will discuss the services their group offers. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance to August 14, 2009.

IST service commitment

Effective immediately, IST commits to a two- to three-year unchanging rate when implementing new recharge services, and notice of at least one-year before discontinuing any recharge services. August 10, 2009.

Free servers available for campus departments: Round 2

IST has received the second in a series of server donations from Broadcom Corporation. These servers are currently available to campus departments. To request a server, read the terms and conditions and submit the available online request form. July 10, 2009.

UC Office of the President (UCOP) Strategic Sourcing and Dell have worked together to provide super-saver computer systems, which are now posted to the Dell Premier website. These special offers are good through the end of June 2009. June 9, 2009.

Update on the new Berkeley voicemail system

UC Berkeley is collaborating with LBNL to offer a new voicemail system to the campus. The new system is expected to save the campus $200,000 per year. June 4, 2009.
