A growing calendar network wins Sautter Award

Since its debut in December 2006, the UC Berkeley Calendar Network has spread across the campus like an irrepressible idea, and now connects the online calendars of 51 colleges, departments, and units. The network provides what is arguably the most comprehensive listing of events published by any university. In July, the University of California recognized the calendar network and its developers, awarding it the Larry L. Sautter Golden Award for Innovation in Information Technology. August 18, 2008.

The award-winning UC Berkeley Calendar Network Application has received two more honors: the 2008 Larry L. Sautter Golden Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Information Technology, and a 2008 CASE Circle of Excellence Award. July 21, 2008.

New iNews website and newsfeeds

The IT Events calendar: A new way to publicize your event

The Office of the CIO is pleased to announce the Information Technology (IT) Events calendar, a new addition to the UC Berkeley Calendar Network. The IT Events calendar is designed to function as an aggregate of IT-related events that are sponsored by groups and departments throughout the Berkeley campus, with the goal of making the IT Events calendar a resource where all campus IT events can be seen in a single place. New IT program manager for the Technology Program Office

Liz Marsh has been selected as the new IT program manager in the OCIO-Technology Program Office. The IT program manager facilitates the campus IT governance efforts and serves as a professional staff representative for the CIO. March 4, 2008.

Career Compass job family mapping update

Starting March 3, 2008, the campus will begin mapping jobs in the following fields: Information Technology, Finance, General Administration, Human Resources, and Research Administration. Employees who are performing professional, supervisory, or managerial jobs in these fields are the focus of the efforts at this phase of the project. Employees who perform jobs that are represented by a union will not be mapped until 2009. Academic and student employees are outside the scope of this project. February 28, 2008.

"Crossing The Digital Divide", The Scholar's Workstation's interactive seminar that introduces the major issues involved in buying computers and other digital gear, is now available on iTunes U and YouTube October 18, 2007.

Computer Health Matters online course now available

This new ergonomics training tool helps campus faculty and staff to set up a user-friendly workstation and to practice stretches to prevent computer-related aches and pains. The course, which complements the in-person workshop of the same name, is available through eTrain. October 12, 2007.
