Information Technology Architecture Committee (ITAC)

UC Berkeley's Information Technology Architecture Committee (ITAC), along with the Campus Technology Council (CTC) and the Campus Information Security and Privacy Committee (CISPC), fills a pivotal role in campus technology governance. ITAC develops and maintains enterprise architecture roadmaps related to information, business processes, applications, and technology infrastructure, and includes broad representation from various information technology departments across campus. In 2009-10, the committee has been focusing on the three-part mission of the organization to: set campus standards for information technology; provide oversight for critical campus IT services; and provide communication and networking for campus IT leaders. Cloud computing in education

The UC Berkeley Reliable Adaptive Distributed Systems Laboratory (RAD Lab) piloted a software project course in 2007 focused exclusively on developing and deploying software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications. In fall 2008, the course was moved from Berkeley-owned infrastructure to the cloud. March 17, 2009.

The Office of the CIO and the campus Information Technology Architecture Committee (ITAC) are pleased to announce the availability of three research and advisory services from Burton Group, an organization that provides in-depth, vendor-independent research and advisory services focused on enterprise IT infrastructure technologies: Application Platform Strategies, Collaboration and Content Strategies, and Identity and Privacy Strategies. Proposed systemwide Policy on Accessibility in the Electronic Environment

The University of California has recently proposed a systemwide Policy on Accessibility in the Electronic Environment to formally acknowledge UC's commitment to accessibility for all students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. This new policy requires implementation of technical standards for website accessibility, and provides recommendations for resources and tools that are useful for making web content accessible. The draft policy is open to review; comments are due by October 26, 2007. October 5, 2007.
